For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
Psalm 139:13
I have been knitting a bit over the holiday break this year. As I spend hours upon hours, creating one stitch at the time to complete a single--and simple--project, I am reminded of Psalm 139. I am reminded that God formed me from dust. He merely spoke and I was. The way I am able to manipulate two needles and thread is a pathetic representation of the way God wove vast amounts of various materials together to create my human body.
When I am knitting, I am a perfectionist. A dropped stitch three rows ago means the most recent three rows will get unraveled and redone. In a sense, I believe this reflects the mindset of my Maker. He also is a perfectionist. However, as one of my friends said one time, "He never makes mistakes."
Although the effects of sin run deep, and our bodies are not perfect here, one day the veil will be lifted, and we will be able to see the beauty and glory of His absolutely perfect work.
God, thank you for knitting me together in a way that is beautiful and pleasing to you. Thank you for knowing my inmost being and choosing not to reject me. Thank you for knowing me and sending Jesus so that I could know you too.
