I don't have much time to write....but the words of a song have been
on my mind recently & I cannot keep these thoughts to myself any
longer.
"Oh, church, come stand in the light. Our God is not dead, He's alive, He's alive!"
I have recently found myself disappointed in the way that Christians
live. I am by no means excluded. I often live as if God is dead. As if I
am harming no one when I sin. After all, going to church and doing good
things once in a while is enough to cover my mess-ups, right? UGH. I
have noticed that there is a lack of a sense that my life is in direct
connection with our Creator's purposes. I have seen a lack of
accountability in the body of Christ. God does not need us to reflect
His glory in this fallen world--in fact, He needs nothing from
us. However, He has given us the opportunity to participate in His
purposes. He has called us to be men and women who put His character on
display. Why are we neglecting this calling? Why are we conforming our
minds to worldly ideals? Why do we idolize the same things nonbelievers
idolize? Is our God dead to us? Is He not exalted and reigning still on
His throne today? What are we doing?
We are harming His
reputation by turning His blessings into blasphemies. We proclaim His
name, yet we walk in darkness. And we neglect to encourage each other to
uphold a higher standard.
Today, I am praying for wisdom and strength for the church as a whole. Wisdom and strength to live as if God almighty is alive.
