Life. Most intricate, yet most unappreciated. Have you ever taken the time to think about what a wonder you are? Formed from essentially nothing, you. You did not choose birth. You did not choose this universe. You did not even choose your parents. When I sit back and think about my life, I am completely overwhelmed in awe of our Creator. Who besides God has the creativity to design such a thing as DNA? Who else is powerful enough to govern the planets and keep them in order? Who's knowledge of the present, past and future is better than my knowledge of basic arithmetic? There is none who comes close.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Psalm 19:1
As the heavens are higher than the earth,
my ways higher than your ways
& my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Isaiah55:9
Through the stress, broken relationships, deaths and other trials of life, I have recently discovered that I am most at peace when I revel in God's greatness. If He cared about me enough to create me, I know without a doubt that He still cares about me now. Just look at the great extent He had to go to in order to create a place suitable for my survival! He has a perfect plan for me. He made me to bring glory and honor to His wonderful name. When I am confused and have no inkling of what to make of my circumstances, the fact that my God is sovereign is more comforting than anything any human can tell me. Moreover, the fact that He sent His only Son to die for me tells the story of a love I cannot begin to understand. It astounds me that He would burden Jesus with death upon a cross so that I may experience what it means to live freely today. If I somehow managed to deserve to walk this earth, I certainly deserved to walk it knowing I would one day be punished for my wickedness. But no, God sacrificed Jesus Christ to free me from the weight of my sin. Before a perfectly just God, Jesus payed my penalty! My puny mind simply cannot comprehend why He wanted to give His Son so that I may appear blameless in His sight. It is my prayer that I never take my freedom in Christ Jesus for granted.
Thank You, God for revealing my brokenness and thank You for Your overcoming perfection. Thank You for showing me where I fail to love, and thank You for Your unfailing love. Thank You for grace when I give none myself. Thank You for Your sacrifice when I make none in return.
"Take my heart, I lay it down at the feet of You who's crowned. Take my life, I'm letting go. I lift it up to You who's throned. Take my fret, take my fear. All I have, I'm leaving here. Be all my hopes, be all my dreams, be all my delights, be my everything." (David Crowder, Illuminate, "Only You")
